Pizza Chef profiles legendary pizzaiolo Franco Pepe, whose craft has transformed his hometown of Caiazzo, Italy into one of the world's most celebrated pizza destinations. After featuring Franco on Chef’s Table, he invited Brian McGinn and me to collaborate on a book, which became our first photography project. Blending portraiture, documentary, and food photography, the work reflects Franco’s philosophy: that something as simple as pizza can become extraordinary through dedication to craft. Shot entirely on Leica cameras and glass, Pizza Chef was published by Phaidon Press in 2025.
