Dog Food
(About Film)
Dog Food is a short film written and directed by Brian Crano, starring Amanda Seyfried, Cory Michael Smith, David Craig, and Brian’s dog, Axel. The film follows a man whose life unravels after his beloved dog is stolen — a story told with a mix of dark humor and looming dread.
I first met Brian through Michael Klein, a friend and classmate from USC who produced the film. Michael had a gift for connecting people and quickly assembled an exceptional team.
We shot in Red Hook, Brooklyn in the fall of 2013, chasing a hazy, dreamlike atmosphere with a set of old Super Baltar lenses. The film premiered at South by Southwest, won Best Horror Thriller at San Diego Comic-Con, and earned a Vimeo Staff Pick along the way. A few years later, Brian, Michael, and I reunited to make the feature film Permission.
